Getting around Brisbane, Queensland

Public transport in Brisbane

International students studying full-time in Queensland (with a course load of 12 hours or more) are eligible for a public transport concession card. Translink offers international students a 50 percent discount on all fares.

To use public transport in Brisbane, buy a ‘go card’, an electronic ticket that you can add money to. You can use your go card on all TransLink services, including buses, trains (including the Airtrain), ferries and trams in the greater Brisbane, Ipswich, Sunshine Coast, and Gold Coast regions.

Getting to our Chermside campus

The easiest way to get to our Kirana Colleges Chermside campus is to catch a bus to the Chermside shopping centre and walk from there. The Translink website has a Journey Planner that will show you the best route from your starting point to our campus.

The nearest train station is Zillmere Station and it’s about a 20-minute bus ride from there to our campus.

Driving in Queensland

If you decide to buy a car for your stay in Australia, you can drive it if you have a valid overseas licence. Visit the Queensland Government’s website for more information.

There is no free parking near our Chermside campus, but there is paid parking a short walk away.

Getting around Sydney, New South Wales

Public transport in Sydney

To use public transport in Sydney, buy an ‘Opal card’, a smart card you can use like an electronic ticket by touching on at your departure point and touching off when you reach your destination. You can add money to your Opal card and use it on trains, buses, ferries and light rail within the Opal network around the greater Sydney region.

Getting to our Sydney Olympic Park campus

The nearest train station with a connecting bus service to our Sydney Olympic Park campus is Strathfield Station.

Catch a bus to or from Australia Avenue and our campus is about 400m, a six-minute walk from the bust stop.

Driving in New South Wales

You can own and drive a car in New South Wales if you have a valid overseas licence. If you’ll be in NSW for more than three months, you can get a Temporary Overseas Visitor licence from the .

If you choose to drive to our Sydney Olympic Park campus, there is limited free parking nearby and paid parking is about a seven-minute walk away.
